It is an undisputed fact: Disney music is the best music. We all know “How Far I’ll Go” should have won that Oscar, but that’s beside the point. Part of what makes Disney movies so special and so much better than other animation studios (I’m looking at you Dreamworks), is that they write and produce incredible soundtracks.
Because Disney songs are so catchy and beloved, lots of famous (and not so famous) artists make covers of them. Several fantastic Disney covers have made my Mickey Mouse playlist, and they should definitely make yours too.
1. “Let It Go” by Alex Boyé and One Children’s Choir
This young girl’s talent would leave Idina Menzel speechless, and the African twist adds a unique spin on this well-known masterpiece.
2. Anthem Lights Magical Medleys album
If you don’t already love Anthem Lights this album will be sure to make you fall in love. It includes mashups of “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “Lion King,” “High School Musical,” and “Frozen.”
3. “Disney Dudez 3”
If you want the more serious song by Disney Dudez listen to the third one. However, Todrick Hall has produced some fantastic YouTube videos that will give you a good laugh as well. Also check out: Disney Dudez 2
4. “I Wan’na Be Like You” by Fall Out Boy
Probably the best rendition of this song ever made.
5. “Under the Sea” by Raven Symone
This song will give you a throwback to the days of “That’s So Raven.” You can tell she’s having the time of her life singing this, and it never fails to perk up my day by reminding me we’ve got no troubles, life is the bubbles!
6. “Let It Go” by Rascal Flatts and Lucy Hale
I have no shame in putting two renditions of “Let It Go” on this list. Rascal Flatts and Lucy Hale nailed it with their cover.
7. “Spell Block Tango” by Todrick Hall
This is another YouTube video by Todrick Hall, but it is beautifully done. This one is for all you “Chicago” fans.
8. “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” by Elliott Yamin
The first time I heard this version of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” I almost cried. I am convinced this song is going to be my first dance at my wedding. That’s how much I love it.
9. “Cruella de Vil” by Selena Gomez
Here’s another throwback to the days where Selena Gomez was still a young, innocent Disney star.
10. “Colors of the Wind” by Tori Kelly
I always say that Belle is my favorite princess, “Brave” is my favorite princess movie and Pocahontas’ singing voice is my favorite of all the princesses. Vanessa Hudgens version left me with a bad feeling toward covers of this song, but Tori Kelly did a beautiful job with this version.
