10 fun facts about Disneyland’s opening day

Today marks the 62nd anniversary of our beloved Disneyland! Today, 62 years ago, Walt Disney opened what would become the most iconic and best theme park in the world. To celebrate, here are a few fun facts about the opening of Disneyland!

1. The land that Disney purchased used to be an orange grove

2. David MacPherson was the first person to enter the park and Christine Vess and Michael Schwartner were the first children

3. Originally there were five lands: Main Street U.S.A., Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Adventureland and Frontierland

5. The first day was actually a bit of a disaster

6. Tickets cost $1 for adults and $.50 for children and the rides each cost $.10 to $.40
